Freerice.com is an online word game set up by the UN's World Food Programme. It donates 10 grains of rice to one of 75 impoverished countries every time someone gets an answer right.

The site is supported by ad revenue—ads pop up at the bottom of the screen every time someone gets a question right. Stats show that over billion grains of rice have fed 50,000 people and upped the vocabulary of many many people who have played the game since its launch a month ago.
